SVRFC Email Notice: 02/05/09. Spring Season Begins At Last Gentlemen, it has been a long cold winter, leaving much time to sit and reflect on where we have come from and where we now stand. We stand looking down over the world of rugby we have conquered. We stand united. What a moment worth reflecting on. Enjoy it. Take it all in. Remember that feeling of power and passion that boils up inside you because it is what this game and this team is all about. But it is now time to turn around and see the obstacles and opponents that now stand in our pathway. It is time to wake the sleeping beast which is Scioto Valley Rugby from its well-earned rest. Time for our eyes to focus on the road ahead and the task at hand. To win a DII Championship. To long have we yearned for a taste of glory, that sweet smell in the air we tasted in Novemeber. It is time to take the next step up. Time to harden your heart and your body for what is to come. It will not be an easy road. This season we build on what we have learned. It is time to stop going through the motions and start doing things right. Start expanding our vision of what we are capable of doing both as individuals and as a team. We will start this focus as we step into our first week of training. We will begin training indoors on the 17th and 19th of February at 9:00pm. Location information will follow. We will then, weather permitting, Be back on our regular schedule of Tuesday/ Thursday at 6:30 at Rhodes Park. I recommend that you do not come into the first week of training without having some base of cardio work or you will struggle to keep up with the pace and the standard we are going to set. We have 6 players who are representing us and Ohio in San Deigo who have set that training standard and the rest of us will match it. Between now and the 17th there are 2 touch rugby sessions that I highly suggest you attend. Gentlemen, we do not strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. Come prepared to earn your spot and the respect of those around you. With the talent we have, there is no spot that is not open for the taking. Who wants it the most? Come join me at the top.

Kevin Mongold
SVRFC Captain
